A busy past week...

It's been a busy and exciting week...the 328th CSH (my hospital unit) had its annual family day at Lagoon. Pregnant women are discouraged from riding the newest ride-Wicked-so I had to do
it alone (which isn't as fun). We left after lunch and headed to Helena's mother's house in Draper for June birthdays. Helena made the pretty lemon cake below.

We also met up with my mother's cousins who were in town visiting their daughter Ashley. We ate at a great cajun place in SLC called the Bayou. We're trying to find a day to go to Ashley's roller-derby competitions. We hear they're all the rage! Expect pictures of that...

Owlz meet the Red Sox...

Last night we attended the fifth Owlz game and their fifth win with the Espinozas, Willie, and Bethany. A Red Sox scout was there as well. We sit behind one of the Owlz owners, Jason Taylor, who showed us the scout's World Championship Ring...pretty huge next to the Owlz ring from last year.

14 Weeks 5 Days

Hi everyone! Last week I just barely started to show (week 14) so Bobby and I thought it would be good to start documenting the progress! This Tuesday we're going in for a gender check, so hopefully the baby is sitting well enough for us to see if it's a boy or a girl--we will definitely keep you updated on what we find out! I've just passed the 15 week mark, so we'll be posting another photo soon (although it probably won't be that much different... it's fun regardless :).

Game 2-Same result...

The Owlz won tonight 13-3 on five home runs. It was military appreciation night with camo uniforms...here are some pictures from the first night as well...
Our apartment is to the left of the IHOP (out of view)
Before game 1...

Pretty good seats, but we won't be catching any foul balls...

Owlz take flight...

Tonight was the Orem Owlz home opener. The Owlz are the Anaheim Angels' rookie team in the Pioneer League's Southern Division. We played the Ogden Raptors. Helena bet me we'd walk in our door after midnight. If so, I had to go get a pizza. If not, she had to make me nachos. Things started going her way from the start. There were fireworks after the game, the power went out for half an hour, it started to rain, and the game went to the bottom of the 13th inning but the Owlz pulled out the 6-5 win at 11:35. Ironically, it was the delays sending people home early that weakened the traffic just enough for us to get home in time for NACHOS...and the Royals beat St. Louis so 12:00 and all is well-we even got a game ball...of course, finals for spring term happen to be tomorrow morning so pictures will have to be posted later, but they will come.

The Provo Tabernacle

This past weekend Bobby and I attended a choir concert that Bobby's brother's wife's sister played the organ in. We had never been inside the Provo Tabernacle before, so it was fun finally getting to see it after having driven past it so many times. Here are a few pictures of what we saw. (built 1880's)

Camping at Deer Reservoir Park...

For the first time since we moved to Utah, Helena and I had both Friday and Saturday off so we took the opportunity to drive up Provo Canyon to Deer Reservoir State Park to go camping with our good friends the Espinozas. The weather was beautiful until we woke up. Apparently it does rain in Utah once in a while-about as frequently as we go camping. All in all it was a lot of fun. Here are a few pictures and we hope to post again soon. -bZ-
...the falls halfway up Provo Canyon...the cables were used for a lift to the restaurant at the top until it closed due to a rockslide...or was it an avalanche? Behind Helena, the backside of Mount Timpanogus is visible. Still quite a bit of snow up there...

Sushi Time!

Yesterday I tried my hand at making California rolls for the first time. Bobby and I were craving something light and delicious but I wasn't really feeling up to going out (still not quite running at full steam--morning sickness has been a killer!) so we stayed in and decided to try making our own. The first batch I made was pretty good, just a little awkward to roll, but after a little practice, I was able to get it down pat! They are really simple to make and very good to eat, so we're pretty excited to have this new skill under our belt. :)
