San Antonio Revisited...
Picturesque Texas...
We woke to a white Christmas even in Texas! It snowed Christmas Eve and by the end of Dec. 25th, it had all melted and the boys were able to go out and play some football.
Holidays
This year we had an AWESOME holiday season with family both in Utah and Texas. For our 3rd anniversary (Dec. 28) we were able to make it to San Antonio--where we became engaged--and had an amazing time seeing old haunts from a different vantage point (from courtship to marriage with children). That's right...CHILDREN ;) As you can see at the bottom of the page, we've begun the countdown to baby boy number 2!

All in all, Bobby and I both would agree that there aren't words enough to describe what a great time we had this year. Here are a few Henry pictures. Enjoy!!!
Henry's walking like a pro these days...here he is chasing down Daddy.
Why do kids always love the box more than the contents?
Henry trying to get a peek at his cute cousin Kimmy! He LOVES babies.
Henry eating Cheerios--they get everywhere!

A Thanksgiving First--for Henry ;)
First of all Happy Thanksgiving! On Thanksgiving day we had a great meal with family and Henry ate like I've never seen him eat before. Maybe it was because each bite was of something different--I don't know--but if we offered him food, he would take it! (Highly unusual.) After eating we loaded him up in the car to go buy newspapers for Black Friday ads when we looked back and saw him just like this... and no, he didn't move the entire time we were in the car. He never fell asleep either. He didn't even wiggle a finger! Can you believe it?? THIS kid?? Not moving??? Bobby and I thought it was so funny... a visual image of what we all feel like right after Thanksgiving dinner :)

Florida Trip Part I

October
Happy Belated Halloween! This October was a full one for us, which is part of the reason we haven't posted in so long! It started with birthdays and ended with a crazy Halloween--and all in all, it proved itself once again to be our favorite month of the year. On the 23rd, my sister in law Ashley had a Halloween party at her house with a Western theme. Ashley took the picture above which I think is SO cute of Henry and very handsome of Bobby, haha, and pretty awkward of me. I love it though :)On the 26th, as a birthday present from Bobby, I went to go visit my cousin in Florida. She has a little one that is just 4 months older than Henry that I got to meet for the first time--what a cutie! It was so great getting to see them again after 3 years. A big thank you to Bobby, Tyson, Julia, and Link for making the trip possible! What a great time!

Happy Birthday Helena!
Henry and I surprised the Love of our Lives with some music, gifts, promises, and a day out. Henry was thoughtful enough to get his mother's favorite TV show on DVD (Little House on the Prairie) so she could have it on while he naps in the afternoons. After lunch we took Helena shopping for clothes and Henry was pretty good in all of those girl stores believe it or not.
Also, Helena and I recently discovered an artist named Jon McNaughton (here's a link to his website). We had previously spent many an afternoon debating the rendering of the Salt Lake Temple we want to hang in our home. McNaughton has done several, and today Helena chose this one. This isn't the best picture and the plastic is still on the frame but you get the idea.
We hope you had a happy birthday Babydoll!

Last Fishing Trip of the Year
This past weekend Bobby, myself and friends Parker and Maren decided on a whim to take a little fishing trip to officially end the summer season here in the mountain west. What a day we had! Maren started out by catching two fish right away, and from there our trip quickly became a battle of the sexes to see who could catch the most fish. Can you guess who won??? WE DID! The girls way out-caught the guys (highly unusual I should add--and very lucky) and we were so proud of ourselves! Bobby was a great sport and spent most of his time unhooking our fish from our lines (which is probably why the girls won) and then gutted the fish once we got home. Needless to say, dinner was great, as was our day out in the sunshine with friends! We had a blast!

Happy Birthday Bobby!
I am married to the best man on earth, and yesterday was his birthday! He had to spend the afternoon at school, but was able to get in a game of tennis with his good friend Parker during lunch--which was great because he's usually so busy he never has time to play! When he got back, we went to dinner and afterwards (with the help of many sneaky people) we were able to pull off a surprise party!!! We were all very good actors and he didn't suspect a thing! We love you Bobby! Hope you had a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! Pictures to come :)

9 Months
Henry had his 9 month appointment with the doctor last week and here are the stats as they currently stand:
Height: 30 in. / 85 %tile
Weight: 18.5 lbs. / 11 %tile
Head Cir.: can't remember! / 52 %tile
Henry is a happy, healthy, rambunctious child! He is always on the move, so when it comes to diaper changes and lotion, this is how the situation usually winds up...

Birthday Time!
Last Sunday we had a family dinner to celebrate my step-brother Chris and his birthday. I volunteered for cake duty (bake and frost) and recruited my nieces to help me--they were great helpers and we all had a fun time with each other :)
All suited up and ready to go!
My Aunt Rhonda and Uncle Doyle were fortunately in town and were able to have dinner with us too. Henry loved Aunt Rhonda so much and enjoyed being with her a great deal. While Aunt Rhonda was talking to my mom Henry just stared up at her and listened--like in the picture below.
Surviving the wilderness one Cheerio at a time...
My side of the family went camping this weekend up Big Cottonwood Canyon and Henry and I thought we'd tag along for a few hours. Bobby would have come with us, but was being attentive to other duties he had, so we ventured out into the wilderness, just Henry and I. It was so wonderful getting away from the noise of all things electric and to sit around the campfire with only the sound of the crackling flames on wood. It was so relaxing... Henry was relaxed too--more relaxed than I've seen him in a long time. He was perfectly content to simply sit in his chair and watch the nature around him--and anyone who knows Henry knows he's never still (unless he's sleeping). So ultimately, it was a really great few hours and I was glad Henry was able to enjoy some quality time in the outdoors.

4 Generations!
This past week my father-in-law who was in town from Kansas City and grandfather-in-law in from California came to visit. It was so great getting to spend time with them and to have the opportunity for Henry to get to know them better. Thanks for coming over Dad and Grandpa Zenk! We love you!
We love our sweet boy :)

2 Liters vs 308 Winchester
While my brother Jim and his family were here from PA Bobby took my mom and the boys shooting on the west side of Utah Lake. It's a pretty popular place to shoot 1) because it's out in the middle of nowhere and 2) because it's surrounded by hills perfect for catching bullets. People bring all sorts of things out there to shoot--we've seen toilets, hot water heaters, computer monitors, mannequins, bbq's, and VCRs--among other things. The only downside to this site is that on some days it gets pretty windy with the wind coming off the lake---as you'll hear in the video. Other than that, it makes for a pretty perfect outing! As an aside, this was Luke's (Jimmy's oldest boy--age four) first gun safety course. For some cool pictures see Jim's blog post.

Recent Firsts
In the past month it seems like Henry has grown so much--physically and developmentally. About a week and a half ago he cut his first tooth and in the past week alone he has started crawling AND pulling himself up into standing positions (in his crib, on the couch, etc.). With his new found independence that comes with greater mobility, he has developed an intense curiosity for everything in our apartment (except for his toys!). I realized fairly quickly that I needed to deep clean the baseboards, kitchen floor, and to keep the carpets well vacuumed at all times because Henry puts everything in his mouth :P The other day he somehow pulled a dust wad out of the foot of the vacuum and was on his way to putting it into his mouth but luckily I saw it in time and was able to remove it from his fist before it landed on his tongue. Anyhow, we've been having a lot of fun watching our little guy enjoy his new abilities and wanted to share some pictures of them with you too! Enjoy!

A Sample of Jimmy's Camara Skillz
These are pictures my brother Jim took of us while they were here visiting from PA. He is a great photographer and we love it when he comes with his nice camara!

Henry: Recent Misc.
Bobby and I like to go to Owlz games (the Angels' farm team) one, because we like baseball, and two, because the stadium is right across the street :) It makes for a nice evening out of doors--especially this season now that Henry is here to enjoy the games with us!
This is typical Henry--whenever he is not trying to crawl, he's doing the 'airplane' :)
Using (and LOVING) his new sippy cup!
Checking out his new cup (before bath...)
Dad is so funny! Bobby was making him laugh so hard! (As you can tell, Henry also had a fun time trying to grab the spoon I was attempting to feed him with...)
